Ag Drive’s two-day chainsaw operators micro-credential course offers a mix of classroom learning sessions and practical skill development opportunities, in a safe and friendly environment. It is suitable for all individuals who are new to chainsaw operation, as well as anyone wishing to upskill themselves. Upon completion the awarded Primary ITO micro-credentials will be recorded on each learner’s NZQA Record of Learning.
Course Outcomes:
Describe the rules for safe chainsaw use.
Describe all of the chainsaw's safety features and their use.
Describe the correct Personal Protective Equipment relating to chainsaws.
Disassemble, clean, and reassemble a chainsaw and complete basic servicing.
Demonstrate correct sharpening techniques.
Demonstrate both cold and warm start techniques and test the chainsaw safely.
Describe the “danger zone” and kick-back.
Demonstrate the up-cut and down-cut techniques safely.
Discuss the safety of mixing, storing, and transporting fuel.
